Terms of use
This site is operated by Four Cents. Using it means you accept these terms. They cover the website, the free audit tool, the forms and the guides. Paid work is governed by a separate written proposal and agreement, not by this page.
Information, not advice
The guides, the service pages and the audit tool provide general information based on public search-engine guidelines and our experience. They are not advice for your particular situation, and they are not a guarantee of rankings, traffic or any other outcome. Search engines and AI assistants change their systems without notice, so any statement on this site may become out of date; guides carry the date they were last updated for that reason.
The free audit tool
- Use it on websites you own or are authorised to assess. Do not use it to probe, test or load other people's sites.
- The tool makes a small number of automated requests to the site you enter. You are responsible for having the right to cause those requests.
- It is rate-limited, and we may refuse, throttle or block use that we consider abusive, without notice.
- Results reflect a single fetch at a point in time, read without running scripts. They are provided as is, may contain errors, and are not a substitute for a full audit or for the search engines' own tools.
- We may change, suspend or withdraw the tool at any time.
Forms and enquiries
Sending a form does not create an engagement, and we are not obliged to respond to or act on any enquiry. Any work we agree to do is set out in a written proposal and agreement, which states the plan, the price, the hours, the deliverables and the notice period. Our plans are month-to-month with 30 days' notice, as described on the pricing page; the written agreement governs if the two differ.
Your information
How we handle what you send us is described in the privacy policy, which forms part of these terms.
Content and intellectual property
The text, code, design and tools on this site belong to Four Cents unless stated otherwise. You may quote short excerpts with attribution and a link to the page. You may not copy pages, republish guides in full, or scrape the site for use in a product without written permission. Third-party names and trademarks mentioned on this site, including Google, Bing, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Copilot and Claude, belong to their owners; mentioning them does not imply endorsement.
Links to other sites
Guides cite external sources and link to them. We are not responsible for the content or practices of other sites.
Acceptable use
Do not attempt to gain unauthorised access to the site or its server, interfere with its operation, submit false or misleading information through the forms, or use automated means to submit forms or run audits at scale.
Liability
The site and the tool are provided as is, without warranty of any kind. To the extent permitted by law, Four Cents is not liable for any loss arising from use of this site, the audit tool or the information on it, including decisions made on the basis of that information. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario, Canada.
Changes
We may update these terms. The date below shows the current version, and continued use of the site after a change means you accept it.
